Donating time instead of cash can really mean a lot to the giving spirit not only to those who will reap the rewards but also to you. I support people to find something which interests them and give an hour a day or a week,  a month to this form of donation. You will be glad you did. The Dog Pounds In many Communities welcome volunteers be it helping clean kennels or perhaps walking the pets for exercise. Help a single parent out Be this taking the child to a movie or park of some kind, this will allow a parent to have a couple of hours to themselves so they can regain strength to raise that child. It also serves the child to have an adult friend to befriend. Due to parents concerns of any abuse to a child sometime this can best be dealt with if you do this with other people as a safe group. Bonus with this idea is the child has other children to also have fun with.   Help out your church if you belong to one Perhaps helping and elderly person get to and from church is an option or helping with mild maintenance like painting or planting flowers even housekeeping. Adopt a Senior So many elderly could use some help to stay out of a rest home. This could be some home maintenance (cleaning gutters to help vacuuming) or perhaps taking them grocery shopping or other important errands. Maybe even inviting them over to your home for a nice dinner or BBQ could help cheer them up and give them an opportunity to just get out of their home for a bit. Most are very lonely and would appreciate knowing someone cares. Hospital visits Be this to go in and read to a patient or perhaps just visit someone who is lonely there. Many hospitals have such programs in place now just need people to help with it. Homeless shelters Be this light maintenance or helping once a week with meal preparation. Neighborhood Watch A good way to meet your neighbors and help out when needed if an emergency or planning block parties in the summer to block yard sales. Community Gardens A very good way if you enjoy gardening to do so especially if your a condo or apartment dweller. Most community Gardens will donate the extra part of the harvests to homeless shelters etc. Donation Drives Be this for local schools, food banks, Winter Coats, Eyeglass, blood, many organizations plan them and need volunteers to help. Assistant Couching Many schools and parks are always in need of assistant couches and a great way to make sure you get out to enjoy your own favorite sport. Scout Leaders Female or Male are also always needed to guide young people in productive ways with good leadership. Secret Friend be a secret friend and just do something nice for someone in secret.  Once I lived in a apartment complex and every holiday there would be a trinket as tasty goodie or kids toy out side our doors on holidays.
